Private Basketball Lessons with Jim Thomas


Jim Thomas played varsity basketball at both St. Francis and Wheaton North High Schools, starting on varsity during all four years.  He was twice named to the All Confernece Team in the Dupage Valley Conference.  Jim spent his college years playing basketball for Augustana College where he again started all four varisty seasons.  During this time, Jim was named captain during both his junior and senior seasons, while being ranked nationally at 17th in his junior year and 4th in his senior year.  Jim was voted best defensive player of his conference three times during his college career and named once to the CCIW All Conference Team.

Jim gained coaching experience at the grade school and high school levels while assisting the camp directors at Augustana College, Unversity of Wisconsin and the Minnesota
Timberwolves.  He has assisted younger children in the development of fundamental
basketball Coach, Chips Giovanine.  Jim is currently the Head Coach of the 7th and 8th grade Wheaton North boys traveling feeder teams. He recently completed his second season as the Boys Sophomore Coach at Wheaton North High School.

Private Basketball Lessons with Marcus Liberty
Marcus Liberty's celebrated basketball career started in 1986, when he led Chicago's Martin Luther King High School to the Illinois Class AA title. In 1987, he was ranked the number one high school player in the country by both Sport's Illustrated and USA Today. After high school, Liberty played at the University of Illinois where he was a member of the 1989 "Flying Illini" that reached the Final Four, with Marcus being selected as a member of the Big 10 Freshmen team. In 1990, Marcus was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and traded to the Detroit Pistons in 1993, playing a total of four seasons in the NBA before continuing his professional career for six additional years in Puerto Rico, Japan, Turkey, Sweden, Chile, France, and Greece. In 2000, he began coaching in the IBA and then coached at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Basketball Lessons with Drew Carstens
    After an outstanding high school career in which he was named All-Confernce/All-Area/All State at Downers Grove North High School, Drew Carstens attended Augustana College where he earned NCAA Division III All-American honors during the 2000-2004 seasons as well as being named Team MVP. Drew was his team's leading scorer all four years and was the second leading scorer in school history with 1,813 points. After college, Drew coached Varsity Basketball at Nazareth Academy in 2005-2006. He played for the Elgin Racers in the International Basketball League. Drew is one of the coaches for the Wheaton Heat.
