Lori Mills, Tennis Manager

Lori oversees the WSC tennis program and fifteen highly qualified tennis professionals. She is PTR certified in Junior and Adult Development. Lori joined WSC in 2012 after 22 years at Courts Plus in Elmhurst where she spent 9 years as the Racquet Sports Supervisor, responsible for six indoor courts, three, indoor racquetball courts and twenty-two outdoor tennis courts. In addition, Lori managed hiring, training, and supervising thirty racquet sports staff, including the development of programs for tennis and racquetball lessons, leagues, and special events. She enjoys playing competitive tennis in NITTL and USTA leagues as well as USTA tournaments.

Barb Rueth, Quick Start Director, Advisory Professional

Barb originated Quick Start Tennis at WSC in 2008. She is Director of the program, one of the largest in the western Chicago suburbs. She is PTR certified and teaches all levels of players at WSC, including Adult Beginners and High Performance Juniors. Barb is also on the Wilson Racket Sports Advisory Staff Team. Barb is a USTA Quick Start Schools Program Trainer for physical education teachers in the Chicago district. A 1986 graduate of Marquette University, she played #1 singles and doubles at MR, achieved Academic All American status, and is the first women's tennis player inducted into Marquette's Athletic Hall of Fame. She ranked in the top 20 nationally (NAIA) while in college. Barb was a Wisconsin State Champion, Atlanta City Champion, competed nationally in USTA Mother/Daughter doubles tournaments, and reached the National USTA 5.0 adult finals twice. She held State and Midwest rankings throughout her junior years. Barb also taught and ran adult mixers at Northbrook Racquet Club. In January 2012, Barb was awarded USPTA's 2011 Illinois State Professional of the Year!

Leandro Martins, Adult & Jr. High Performance Green Dot Director, Senior Professional III

Leandro oversees the Adult Tennis program and twelve travel teams for men and women. He is PTR certified and teaches all levels of students from juniors to adults.

Gus Fernandes, High Performance Academy Director, Senior Professional III

USPTA and PTR certified, USTA Northern Illinois Competitive Training Center and High Performance, Gus is also a member of the USTA Northern Illinois Junior Committee Coach of the USTA NITA Junior Davis Cup Team. Brazilian Junior Champion; South American junior champion; Roland Garros and Wimbledon round of 16 as a junior player; U.S. Open Quarter Finalist as a junior player; Top 6 in the world junior rankings; Top 5 in the NCAA division I college rankings; Played college tennis for Louisiana State University; ATP ranked at age of 17. Gus has wins over former ATP #1 in the world players Gustavo Kuerten and Marcelo Rios and over top #5 Felix Mantilla, Nicolas Lapentti and Tim Henmen.

Lenno Lasn, Junior Academy Director, Senior Professional III

Lenno brings a wealth of tennis knowledge, experience and expertise to WSC as well as tremendous enthusiasm for our Junior Academy Program. His tennis philosophy centers around a full approach, "Players must have the skills and mind set, along with consistency, to outplay opponents... to be the player who can put the last ball in the court... in order to call themselves tennis players and not just a person holding a racquet.

Lenno is originally from Estonia, where he started playing tennis at the age of 8. When he was 18, he moved to the Chicago area and played tennis at College of Du Page. Competing for the COD team at the 1998 National Junior College Men's Tennis Championships, Lenno earned the title of National Champion at #4 Singles and was National Runner-Up in Doubles. He then attended Queens College in New York, where he played #1 Singles on their team.

Throughout his college career, Lenno taught tennis to both juniors and adults at all levels, and while in New York, he worked as an assistance coach for the USTA Reebok Program. He was Head Tennis Pro and then Racquet Sports Supervisor at Courts Plus in Elmhurst (since 2004) before joining WSC. Lenno was also Head Women's/Men's Assistant Tennis Coach at Dominican University in River Forest. He has his Professional Tennis Registry Certification, Professional Level.

Gene Holland, Tennis Professional, Senior I

Gene teaches all levels of students. He is a certified Master Professional, National Clinician National Tester, and Pro of the Year with the PTR. Gene was featured writer of several leading articles in the PTR's Tennis Pro Magazine. The articles included: "Doubles: Five Frequently Occurring Situations" and "In your Face Baby, Doubles". Gene is currently investigating tennis and fitness, the mind and body mix. Gene was also the Tennis Director at WSC from 1980-2000.

Joyce Penn, Tennis Professional, Women's Travel Team Asst & Advisory Pro

Joyce received both her B.S. in Physical Education and Master of Education degrees from the University of Illinois. Her first teaching job was at Proviso East in the P.E. Department. Her love of competition earned her national rankings in several age groups in both singles and doubles. One of her USTA 5.0 Adult Women's Teams won a National Championship. Joyce is certified by the PTR.

Hillary Nelson, Tennis Professional, Advisory Pro

Hillary graduated from Wheaton North High School in 1987. By her senior year, she finished in the top 32. She attended Wheaton College and played in the National Tournament and was inducted into Wheaton College's Hall of Honor in 2007. Hillary played tennis in France after college with the AIA. She taught tennis at Wheaton College's P.E. Department and was the assistant tennis coach at Wheaton College from 1991-1994. Hillary then went on to teach at College Park Athletic Club in Deerfield, IL. She is PTR certificed.

George Minkov, Tennis Professional, Advisory Pro

Born in Bulgaria, Europe, George graduated from the University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. During his college years he was a member of a tennis team at the University, playing singles and doubles. He played soccer as well, but realized that tennis is a great game for him. He graduated from the National Sports Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. and taught at a public school for 13 years where is also coached the tennis team. In 2003 he and his family moved to the United States. He then started teaching private tennis lessons and in 2007 became a certified PTR tennis instructor. As a coach, his focus is on the footwork and mental side of the game, saying there is a way to beat almost every opponent.

Morrie Marino, Tennis Professional, Staff

Morrie is a PTR certified Tennis Professional since 2009. Because of his passion for tennis, he has been a student of the game and really enjoys teaching all levels of players. Morrie has been involved in the tennis community for a number of years. He has been a USTA captain and an NITTL coordinator. He has also coordinated in-house leagues and groups at other clubs. Morrie created the online application that is used by the Northern Illinois Traveling Tennis League (NITTL), Greater Suburban Indoor Tennis League (GSITL), and the Fox Valley Women's Tennis League (FVWTL).

Anthony McPherson, Tennis Professional

A former standout tennis player at Elmhurst, Anthony closed out his collegiate career as one of Elmhurst's most decorated players. He earned three all-conference honors, including first-team recognition during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He finished his four-year career ranked fifth in school history in both singles (61) and doubles (61) victories. He also holds the single-season record for most wins at No. 2 singles with 18 during the 2006 season. He earned his bachelor's degree from Elmhurst in 2007. In 2008, Anthony finished number 1 in the nation in USTA men's open doubles and he finished top 30 in the nation in singles. He also ranked top 300 on the end of the year top 500's list for singles.

Anthony has taught players from the beginner through the Division 1 collegiate level with two of his former athletes playing at Boston College and Tulane. He has been a tennis professional at area clubs since 2002. He is PTR certified at the professional level and he is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Bluejay men's and women's tennis teams. In 2010 he was named the CCIW Coach of the Year.

David Warren, Tennis Professional

David is a USPTA P2 and PTR Professional certified coach who loves tennis and enjoys teaching juniors and adults of all levels. He has taught tennis in various capacities since 2002. He has served as Co-Supervisor of the City of Oneonta Park District (New York) tennis program, Assistant Director of the Ferris State University Tennis Camp, and has taught tennis at College Park Athletic Club and St. Charles Country Club. He played for Wheaton College (IL) and assisted in coaching their 2010 Men's Tennis team.

Jim Nelson, Tennis Professional, Staff

Nationally ranked junior from the 12' to 18's. Jim grew up in River Forest, Illinois with 10 brothers and sisters who were all nationally ranked and played collegiate tennis. Jim played college tennis at the University of Iowa and was finalist in the Big Ten Singles Championship his freshman year and was a Big Ten Doubles Champion his sophomore year.
